Narrated video tutorial for the making of [link] in Maya.

Wow so much drama making these videos... If I spent half as much time narating these as I did trying to compress and upload them I'd probably be able to charge money heh but finally here we go:

THESE ARE HOSTED ON MY PERSONAL SITE bandwidth will probably allow around 3-4gb more download before it craps itself for the month lol :) I'll look into finding mirrors tomorrow and I'm open to suggestions (all I can think of is Rapidshare...)

:biscuit: PART ONE: Blocking out the scene and modeling the flower
[link] 14min 40sec 35mb

:biscuit: PART TWO: Detailing the scene
[link] 12min 27sec 31mb

:biscuit: PART THREE: Tweaking scene and lighting tests (I made a mistake in my narration towards the end, in the last few minutes that is not a simple directional light, it's the Mental Ray - Physical Sun and Sky light, part 4 explains this)
[link] 14min 02sec 33mb

:biscuit: PART FOUR: Explanation of the final render setup, shaders, render settings... (Sorry for my throat giving out in this one ^^; but this is the most interesting and informative video probably)
[link] 22min 35sec 41mb

Just open the HTML file in the folder and a player will load.

FINALLY SOME SLEEP! :faint:

Preety cool tutorial man!

I noticed that you was wondering why noise texture don't work with specularity in blin shader(If you don't know that already) - you should connect noise to "RGB to Luminance" color utility, and than "RGB to Luminance" to the reflectivity of blin shader. As far as I know that's because some versions of maya can't regognize if texture is in color, or is monochromatic.

greetings.

Nice tut. I work at an ISP in Chicago. If you'd like I can host these on one of my servers in our NOC so you don't have to worry about bandwidth restrictions. Let me know.

Adobe reader...? That's strange ur extentions are tripping :P It's an archive file, like .zip but .rar belongs to a program called Winrar which u can get a free version of, or even better get urself an open source progam called 7zip [link] it'll extract pretty much anything. Then just open the .html file in the folder and should ge good to go
